Relaxing my Cares Away at Ste. Anne’s Spa #GIVEAWAY

Being a mom to two very active boys doesn’t always give me a lot of down time to just relax. I struggle finding time in my day to catch 5 minutes to myself because I worry about what needs to be done, or I hear the argument over who had the TV last. I believe that taking time for yourself is important to our overall health, if you don’t family, work and spiritual needs can take a negative hit. I decided I was taking my mom on a little adventure for some relaxation, revitalization and of course sometime with erh wonderful daughter.

The Ste. Anne’s Spa philosophy focuses on creating an atmosphere to help rebuild you strength, recapture your energy and reflect on what matters most to you. So when I was offered a day to come up and check it out I was thrilled. I had never been to a spa before so I knew it was going to be an experience none the less.

Located in Grafton Ontario less then hours from Toronto.  Ste. Anne’s is a beautiful spa that is built on an  estate. The relaxing rural setting makes visiting the spa either for a day trip or over night trip to escape all the stresses and enjoy some good old country air. Ste. Anne’s has one numerous awards including favourite spa in Canada for the 9th consecutive year in a row.

What I really loved when I drove up to Ste. Anne’s is the various buildings on the property. An beautiful stone house built in the 1800’s over looks a breathtaking view. It feels as if the countryside could go on forever. Later on owners have added on to the stone house and given it a new life while still keeping the old feel. a beautiful stone walled farmhouse, tiny cottages all surround the main building. It truly felt like I was taken somewhere far away it was all just so stunning.

Stepping in the front doors I really had no idea what to expect. Like I mentioned I had never went to a spa before so I was worried I was going to “stick” out or not “fit” in. My mom and I were immediately greeted as soon as we walked in with warm smiles and kind words. We were offered a seat by the fireplace to warm up from the frigid air and offered some beautiful steeped tea that was located in the foyer. We filled out our paperwork, were given our comfy robes which were our “uniform” for the day and off we set out on a tour to explore and see where everything was.

Beautiful large windows throughout the building really let natural light in offered a warm and inviting space. The sitting rooms had fireplaces, cucumber water, healthy snacks and big comfy couch’s that you could curl up and relax. My mom and I used the couch’s often while waiting for services and I must say it felt just like home.

Everyone was relaxed and smiling as we walked through the building and never once did I feel out of place. No one seemed rushed or stressed as they waited for various treatments or classes to begin. You are meant with the pleasant smell of eucalyptus that truly helped relax my mind. There is just something about the scent that puts me at ease.

There are many treatments to pick from while at the Spa. I went with a deep tissue massage and my mom got a traditional European Massage. I was scared out of my mind to get my massage as I had only ever had one and that was three years ago and I was pregnant so it was basic nothing fancy. So when Rick my RMT came up to get me I was not sure how it was going to go down.

The spa treatments are all down stairs, so you wait in a beautiful seating area and the staff come and get you to bring you down. Rick came up got me and brought me down to his room, he asked me some questions, we discussed various things and honestly for my first time getting a massage of course it was outstanding. I can not even say enough nice things about Rick. He made me feel comfortable asked me questions and really took my lead for conversation which was nice. I was worried it was going to be a sterile environment with no talking. But it was the opposite, very warm, inviting with a lot of laughs which really put me at ease. I felt amazing after my massage and to be honest if he did not make me as comfortable as he did I just might not of been able to fully enjoy myself and everything the massage had to offer. Now my only problem is I wish Rick lived closer LOL

The next classes we checked out were Yoga and Meditation with Jackie. We were taken over to another building and felt like I was transported into a portal of deeper relaxation and understanding. My poor mom had never done Yoga before but Jackie was outstanding and very kind towards her abilities.  Yoga left us relaxed and well stretched. After lunch I headed back to Jackie for some meditation and my mom spent her time in the Grotto. I personally meditate myself and have never attended a class per say that wasn’t for work so this was a new experience for me. The whole atmosphere was warm and truly helped me relax and become one with myself. Pushing all negativity from my body and letting light and warmth in had me feeling like a million bucks by the time the class was over. Feeling at peace with myself is something I long to be more often and I now know how I can help myself on that journey.

In between classes and treatments my mom and I spent our time in the Fieldstone Grato and the eucalyptus steam room. We both could not get over that we were relaxing in a hot tub outside while it was snowing around us. It felt like we were in a movie everything was just so perfect. The Fieldstone Grotto offers three pools for you to enjoy. This year-round facility features a hot tub, a plunge pool for cooling down after heating up in the hot tub, and a lap pool where you can swim against a current. We enjoyed all three multiple times that day.

The steam room was one of my favorite places to be. It is infused with eucalyptus (pure essential oil) which can be helpful in relieving many respiratory symptoms. I was a little congested when we went so I loved the soothing affects of the eucalyptus. My mom was unable to handle the room as she is very sensitive to strong heat. It is not recommended for everyone so please be very careful when using it. If you wanted to use the steam room but not a fan of the eucalyptus both the men’s and women’s change room have a steam room with no scent.

Now let’s get to the good stuff the food. We have all been there we go out to eat and then feel crappy after as it was not always the healthiest choice we picked. Well forget all that when your visit Ste. Anne’s. Indulge without the guilt when visiting. Ste. Anne’s believes in nourishing the body on all levels. I don’t know about you but I can not relax if my tummy is grumbling so taking care of the appetite that seemed to appear through out the day is very important. They have thought of everything, they truly want to offer a dining experience that is not just healthy but wholesome too. Food has an healing power that we often forget to embrace. The culinary staff takes great pride in their dishes and truly puts lot of thought into what they are serving so their guests go the overall experience. Each ingredient has been hand selected after lots of thought which to me shows they care.

Indulge without the guilt; as a Canadian health spa, Ste. Anne’s believes in nourishing the body on all levels. Relaxation would not be complete without taking care of the great appetite that develops during your stay at the spa. We have gone to great lengths to put together a dining experience that is both healthy and wholesome. You will notice that we don’t discuss calories or fat content on our menus. If your requirements are left wanting by our philosophy please feel free to ask the chef to prepare a special meal. The dress code in the dining room is very casual, be yourself, and be relaxed! Their farm-to-table philosophy truly added an extra element. My mom and I really enjoyed the food both during our lunch experience and tea time.
I was blown away by my experience at the spa, I enjoyed hanging in my robe all day, relaxing with my mom in one of the man rooms and of course hanging out in the Fieldstone Grotto.  I will
while there were some glitches while we were there, we are happy with the response we are receiving, and I will be booking again in the future!
