As I write this, I sit on a deck with a glass of wine staring out looking at a beautiful lake. The gentle hum of a hot tub can be heard beside me along with gentle chirps from various birds flying around and the soothing sound of the lake takes me to my happy place. What I don’t hear is my children’s screaming or running around. I love my kids, don’t get me wrong, but if we are being honest I need a break sometimes and The Couples Resort is giving me just that.
4 years ago I was getting ready to say I do to the man of my dreams. Life has been far from perfect but we work towards marital bliss each day, some days we do a little better then others, but in the end I wouldn’t have anyone else by my side.
This weekend was about us. We came up to explore The Couples Resort and reconnect as husband and wife on multiple levels. This little getaway is exactly what we needed without even realizing it. Here at the resort it is a kid free zone, making it the perfect time for us to focus on each other and nothing else.
We arrived late Friday evening and checked in. The process was super quick and simple and before we knew it we were in our Luxury Junior Suite ready to start our romantic getaway….and by romantic I mean lay around having a couple drinks and waiting for the kids to barge in the room. I am happy to report there were no kids, as well, it is for couples only.
Our room was the perfect home away from home. A nice mix of comfort with a rustic spin through out. We had a glorious king sized bed, beautiful wood burning fire place with all the wood we could burn ( included with the room), an in room Jacuzzi, a large balcony with a hot tub over looking the lake. I don’t know about you but nothing says romance then a dip in the hot tub while sipping on wine, star gazing and just enjoying the quality time with my husband.

Now one of the most important parts of a trip is food. Maybe it is just me but food is a big thing, we eat when we are happy, sad, bored and nothing says a celebration then a nice fine dining experience. Hubby and I had no idea what to expect as neither of us had been to a fine dining restaurant but I can tell you one thing I really enjoyed getting all dressed up.
I loved that all my meals were included. (except lunch) We experienced a five course, first class meal and it was superb. They really love focusing on seasonally available Ontario produce that not only supports local but also tantalized my taste buds!
Both nights dinner blew my mind. I always worry when going to a fancier restaurant that it will never be enough food. The portion sizes and variety were great and hubby and myself we more then satisfied with everything. On our second night I had ordered something that wasn’t my taste, our waitress Kirsten noticed I had not finished my meal and immediately wanted to get me something different. I was grateful for her keen awareness and making sure that I was completely satisfied before leaving. Another awesome feature is you can bring your own wine to dinner with no corking fee. This was an awesome added perk!
Now lets be realistic, when on a romantic getaway you might not want to leave your room. At The Couple’s Resort that’s not an issue. You had the option to eat in the restaurant or to have all your meals delivered to your room free of charge. We decided our last morning there we would take full advantage of breakfast in bed with the fire burning as we soaked up every last minute of our romantic getaway.
Now as much as I would of loved to stay in my room all week end I knew that the Couples Resort offered many activities that were either included with your stay or for a small extra fee. We decided to take advantage of the fishing, Horseback Riding ( small fee) and some hiking through out Algonquin Park. (A Season’s Pass was available at the office for us to use)
Hubby and I both agreed that two days was not enough for us to experience everything that The Couples Resort had to offer and that just meant we would need to visit again. Our experience was nothing but positive and we both can not wait to go back. I know for myself the Spa is calling my name and our next visit I will be visiting it for sure.
The staff had no problem going that extra mile to make sure that our stay was beyond spectacular. Whether it was an extra towel, room service or simply asking how we were enjoying ourselves they made it clear they wanted our stay to be worry-free and enjoyable.
We both left rejuvenated and more in love then ever. So Couples Resort we thank you for giving us exactly what we needed! We will be seeing you again sooner rather then later!
