I don’t know about you but from the time I found out I was pregnant it has been a roller-coaster. I never knew if I should eat this or that, if I was holing my baby to much, breastfeeding, bottle feeding etc. But as each day passed I learned along side my kids. But the one thing that I found is that there are so many books out there that were horrible, so I was hesitant to check out Bun 2 Babe. After reading this book my only regret was not finding it sooner!
Charlotte Ryan has a way with words. Not only is she witty but she truly writes from her heart. She has this confidence that just pours from the book that you trust, you truly feel her love for parenting and everything that goes with it.
I really enjoyed the breastfeeding section. It was not all you need to breastfeed because it is better for your child’s health. But instead she talks about the bond, the emotional connection that comes along with the relationship. There is something about being in the moment, everything stops around you and it just becomes you and your baby. I enjoyed every minute of it and it was not because breast was best, but because of everything else that came along with it.
She also talks about bottle feeding so it is not at all about the breastfeeding. This is why I love her so, it is clear that there is no one way in raising our kids and as long as they are done with love, you are on the right track.
I am not going lie I did struggle with the sleep training section as I really don’t believe in it. I kind of skimmed through it and told myself different strokes for different folks. So I will say when reading the book know it is ok to disagree, it is all about respecting another parent for their choices as that is what makes the whole journey so wonderful and unique.
Parenting doesn’t have to be stressful, but I can promise you that if you find the humour in it all each and everyday will be a heck of a lot easier then the last. Go get Bun 2 Babe no matter if you are a first tie parent, or on your fifth kid this is the book for you!
