Let’s Get Organized – The Basics
Nothing feels more freeing then a clean, organized house. I am not talking about the type of clean where you can eat off the floor. I am talking about the clean where everything has a place. I feel fantastic when I go room-by-room around my house and get rid of all the old and useless “stuff”. No matter if you are working on counters full or stuff or bedrooms overflowing with junk you need to keep things under control and have a system.
Have you heard of the Hot, warm and cold system? Basically items that are used the most are kept in the easiest to reach places. Makes things more functional and accessible
What do you keep in drawers, on counters or shelves that are at eye level? Thins that we use often. These areas are you can reach with ease. For example, your oven mitts, they should be stored near the oven.
These are the spaces that still within reach but definitely not right in your face. SO you will need to reach a little deeper, stand on your toes etc to get to the item. Items you use 1 a month or once a week. These items can be large pots, peelers and muffin pans. They are ready for when you need them but not right in your face.
These are the spaces that you need to bend, tuck and roll to get into. Oh you know the spots I am talking about, the cupboard above your fridge for example. You need to use a step stool, or get down on the ground to reach them. Chances are you store items like gelatin molds, seasonal bake dishes and big serving platters and trays. You use them, but not often at all.
This may not work for you, but it rocks in our house. I also am able to get rid of stuff that we haven’t used in forever, or move things around if I find I am using something more often. Being organized and on top of your stuff will help you be stress-free!
