March Madness, Reviews/Giveaways

March Madness with Rapala and Friends

Fishing is in my boy’s blood. My Papa was an avid fisherman and while I was not as lucky, my brother went out often with him. Even as he aged he still told some of the best fish stories around. Sadly my Papa passed away a couple years ago and I promise you the fishing world for us has never been the same. My oldest never really got the chance to fish with him personally, but through my brother he is being taught the same lessons my Papa passed on. When he passed many tackle boxes and lures were left behind that my brother inherited. I can only tell you how happy my son was to receive various items from his grandfather’s collection. He loves going through his tackle boxes and sharing his knowledge with his brother. To a mom you can imagine how special these moments are.

We were sent some fun new products from Rapala and their sister brands to explore. Some of the lures are very well known in our house while others are new.

Fisherman’s Multi-Tool

The Fisherman’s Multi-Tool was new to us. My son calls it the Swiss army knife of fishing. All the most commonly used tools by an angler in one convenient package. Sturdy thanks to the die-cast metal frae but easy to handle thanks to the Soft Grip Handle. A great addition to any tackle box! (Retractable line scissors, Retractable jig eye buster, Multi-size line threader, Carabiner clip, Beverage wrench)

Original Floating® Lure

The lure that started it all! After reading about it and testing it, it is easily understood why it is still the number one “go-to” lure. It can be used as a surface bait, shallow runner, weighted with a split shot for medium depth or bottom walked off a three-way swivel or bottom bouncer it works. Curious how? This lure gives off the wounded minnow action which is irresistible to fish everywhere. We all understand the food chain right? Love that it is good to go right from the box. Different colours, weights and depth available so you can catch the perfect fish all the time.

Rapala Orignal

Our tackle box is ready for anything thanks to Rapala!

Terminator Popping Frog

Have you ever heard the term, Walking your frog? This means the lure moves a lot of water making a disturbance but still keeps it available for a strike. (Bare with me I am learning from my son and brother) The Popping Frog with its cupped face will create a loud, strong pop that drives fish crazy and gets their attention. Here I thought we needed to be silent LOL. This lure allows you to get into spaces you couldn’t with a regular hook. Simple to “pop” it over debris to allow fishing in those hard to fish areas.Custom designed weight is shaped and positioned to stay out of the way of the hook. This design creates a responsive, easy to impart, walking action. Extra-wide hook gap converts strikes into fights. Super easy to use making it great for a newer fishermen or experienced.

360GT Searchbait

This is my kind of lure. As mentioned above it is my brother and son who are more experienced them me. SO when I was sent the 360GT Searchbait I claimed it as my own. This lure is designed to be fished anywhere, by anyone, of any skill level, making it a great starter bait. It features a big boot tail and supple PVC body design so it kicks widely and rolls side to side like a distressed minnow. Sense a theme with my lures?

A body rolling scope of almost 180 degrees creates maximum flash during a standard retrieve. The soft body is matched to an ABS molded jig head complete with internal rattle and VMC coastal black hook. Sadly I haven’t used it yet but I promise you this is the first lure going in the water this year! The 360GT Searchbait includes one jig head rigged on one body, and two additional bodies per packet. Available in 3.5”, 4.5” or 5.5” models.

Sufix Elite™

The one thing that can prevent you from catching the best fish? Would be your line! have heard many stories, but the one I heard most often is the line snapped!  My brother ONLY uses Sufix fishing lines as they have a wide variety that offers him the quality he wants.  Sufix Elite™  has unbeatable strength and easy handling. Superior tensile and knot strength due to Micro Resin Technology. In a nut shell it is strong, does the job you need and does it well!

I was born with a fishing rod in my hand (well maybe not THAT young but close enough). I love Rapala products and own quite a few. I love the multi tool ( don’t currently have one). I love that it has 5 tools in one, 5 tools that I use A LOT. Having the multi tool will free up some space in my tackle boxes and make room for more tackle! 🙂
