I still remember the day my mom brought home a bread maker. We all sat around the machine waiting for our first batch of homemade bread to come out. It felt like FOREVER! I think it was a 2-3 hour wait. But I can still close my eyes and smell the amazing aroma of fresh, baked bread. Have you ever had fresh, warm bread right after it comes out of the oven? Nothing better or comforting. But like I mentioned the time it takes makes it not something I do often.
What if I told you that you could have fresh. tasty rolls on the table in 30 minutes? Sounds impossible right? Not anymore, check out this super easy recipe that give you warm, flakey rolls on the table in just 30 minutes. (This recipe came from Kylees Cooks)
Tasty 30 Minute Dinner Rolls
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water not boiling hot – warm
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 2 Tbs active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 3.5 cups bread flour all-purpose will also work
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, oil, yeast, and sugar.
Let rest for 10 minutes (the yeast mixture will look “puffy”)
Add 2 cups of the flour, the egg, and the salt, into the yeast mixture and mix.
Slowly add the remaining flour is the mixture.
You can use a stand mixture for this but we just used our hands. The dough will be fairly soft so don’t over mix.
Shape dough into 12 balls and place in a 9×13 pan. Let dough rest for 10 minutes, and heat your oven to 400F.
Bake for 10 minutes or until tops are just golden brown. Make sure you are close while the buns are cooking as all ovens vary in cooking times.
Take out of the oven and brush with butter.
Honestly my Brother-in-law said these were so tasty and my nephews devoured them also. knowing that I can make fresh buns at home, that are simple, tasty and not full of crap makes me a happy mama. I would love to te4st this out using whole wheat flour.
Do you make your own bread and buns?
