Instant Pot Mac and Cheese

Nothing is better then a big bowl or Mac and Cheese. It has been a favourite of mine since I was younger and it is now a favourite of my two boys. When I leaned that I could make Mac and Cheese in a pressure cooker my mind was blown. not only is this recipe super easy, it’s also super quick meaning I wont be reaching for the KD anymore! Check it out below you will thank me later.

Instant Pot Mac and Cheese

Mac and Cheese

  • 1 lb Elbow Macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tsp dry ground mustard
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup  Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Add the butter, water, salt, pepper, ground mustard and macaroni to the pressure cooker. Make sure the lid is secure, then set the pressure to high for 4 minutes.

Then allow the pressure cooker to depressurize naturally. I found this step important to the cooking process of the pasta. Then when the pressure is gone open the lid and pour in the evaporated milk and cheeses.

Stir until everything is all melted and combined. You can add salt and pepper to taste but I leave it up to the individual eating it.

There are so many different ways to jazz up this Mac and Cheese recipe. Adding in stewed tomatoes at the end, or even bacon or just two of my favourite ideas.

This is a Instant Pot Recipe a friend shared with me but I am happy to report I made it in My Fast Slow Pro. So it is very versatile.

What is your favourite dish to prepare in the pressure cooker?
