Sweet and Tangy Homemade BBQ Sauce

The other day I did a big clean out of my fridge. This involved me going through all our sauces and condiments and tossing anything expired or close to. Sounds awesome right? Well not so much when you go to make ribs the next day and you have no BBQ sauce. So I figured I would just make some. I mean how hard could it be right? Thankfully I had everything and was ready to get started. Within about 10 or so minutes I had my sauce prepared and simmering on the stove. It was super easy to do and smelt AMAZING! Check out the recipe below.

Sweet and Tangy Homemade BBQ Sauce

  • 2 cups of Ketchup
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoons of ground pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon of ground mustard
  • 5 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 5 table spoons of white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

  1. Put the ketchup, water, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and hot sauce into a pot. Give it a good mix, then bring it to a boil.
  2. Then put the rest of the ingredients into the pot and give it another good stir.
  3. Turn the heat to low and simmer for one hour uncovered.
  4. Enjoy!

I added this to my meat a little to early so it did cause it to burn a bit. So I recommended that you add it closer to the end of your cooking not the beginning. I even put it on my ribs in my Fast Slow Pro and really enjoyed the tangy but sweet sauce. Do you make your own sauce?
